General
The purpose of the engine bleed air supply system is to:
• select one of two compressor stages of the engine HP compressor in agreement with the supplied pressure
• regulate the bleed air pressure to 44 ± 3 psig.
• regulate the bleed air temperature to 200 ± 15 deg.C.
The engine bleed air system supplies user systems and is monitored by Bleed Monitoring Computer (BMC). The engine of each wing supply air to one of the two air conditioning systems and their associated wing ice protection systems. Both wing systems operate in parallel. A cross-bleed valve isolates one system from the other.

Pressure regulation
压力调节
• PRV: Allows air bleed from engine and regulates bleed air pressure to 44 ± 3 psig.
• PRV :允许发动机引气,并将引气压力调节至44±3 psig。
• TLT: Controls the PRV. The PRV also operates pneumatically but opening and closing can be controlled by the TLT. The solenoid is installed in the duct downstream of the PCE. The solenoid controls the PRV which controls the HP bleed valve at the same time.

• S/L 2: Transmits the PRV upstream pressure to a pressure transducer.

• S/L 3: Receives a pressure signal from the control solenoid (bleed valve closure).

• OPV: Provides overpressure protection of PRV. Starts to close at 75 psig to reduce air flow and pressure. Fully closed at 85 psig and reopens when upstream pressure ≤ 35 psig.

• S/L 6: Provides reference pressure to PRV for regulation and back flow protection.

• Pr: Measures air pressure downstream of PRV (regulated pressure) and provides BMC with an associated electric signal.

IP to HP transfer (engine air source)

• HPV: Allows air bleed from HP port at low engine power. Pressure downstream limitation to 36 psig and reverse flow protection of the HP stage. Closes when upstream static pressure reaches 105 ± 5 psig.

• S/L 1: Permits HPV opening (when pressurized) and closing (when vented to ambient).

• IPCV: Bleeds air from IP stage when HP bleed valve in closed position. Prevents reverse flow to IP port.

Temperature control

• PCE: Cools engine air bleed using fan air.

• TCT: Controls engine fan cooling airflow through FAV to maintain it at 200 ± 15 deg.C.

• S/L 5: Permits FAV opening when pressurized.

• FAV: Provides cold fan air to PCE upon pressure signal from TCT to regulate temp to 200 ± 15 deg.C.

• T: Measures air temperature downstream of PCE and provides BMC with an associated electrical signal.

Monitoring

BMC: Controls and monitors bleed air temperature, bleed air pressure and IP to HP transfer. Receives info about the three systems and supplies indications and warnings to ECAM and CFDS.

• Use of the bleed test set P/N 98L36103002000 and associated tools or equivalent is recommended for valve test, S/L leakage or troubleshooting. For the latest bleed test standards, refer to the AMM.

• Valve (HPV, PRV) position indication (including wiring) can be checked by manually actuating the valve and checking the position indication displayed on ECAM bleed page is in accordance.

• To reduce the number of NFF replacements and avoid repetitive faults, consider:
– troubleshooting practises: application of advanced troubleshooting tasks before BMC removal
– preventive maintenance practises: application on Engine Bleed Air System Health Check program. ISI 36.11.00022 refers.

Electrical connectors

• Damage of an electrical connector can lead to a faulty valve position indication or a faulty open/close command.

• Specific attention should be paid condition of harness connectors to avoid unjustified valve removals and repetitive faults on aircrafts.

Pneumatic connectors

• Damage of a sense line connection can lead to leaks which results into drift in regulation, and/or valves locked closed. S/L6 (if installed) are particularly sensitive to leaks.
• 感应管路连接损坏可能导致泄漏,引发调节波动和/或活门卡在关闭位。S/L6(如已安装)对泄漏尤为敏感。
• In order to prevent sense line leak and connector damage tighten then connector by hand.
• 为防止感应管路泄漏和连接器损坏,请手动拧紧连接器。
• Then torque to the adequate value with pliers if necessary.
• 如有必要,可用钳子将扭矩调整至适当值。
• For flexible sense lines use a second plier to prevent sense line twisting when torquing (S/L 3 is particularly affected).
• 对于柔性感应管,需使用第二把钳子以防止拧紧时发生缠绕(S/L 3型号尤为易受影响)。
• If connection by hand is not possible, do not force torquing with a pliers as it would result in further damages, try with a new sense line.

Sense line/valve connections shall be carefully aligned and hand tightened first to avoid thread damage. Refer to ISI 36.11.00023 for Bleed Sense Lines Maintenance Recommendations
