七、部件原理
1.The turbine gearbox/modulating shutoff valve/isolator assembly changes compressed air pressure into mechanical force to drive a hydraulic pump at a constant speed. The physical and operational characteristics of the turbine gearbox/modulating shutoff valve/isolator assembly are shown in Table 1.
涡轮齿轮箱/调节关断活门/隔离器组件将压缩空气压力转化为机械力,以恒定速度驱动液压泵。该组件的物理及运行特性详见表1。
2. Operation

A. Turbine Gearbox/Modulating Shutoff Valve/Isolator Assembly (Subtask 29-11-25-870-003-A01)

(1) The turbine gearbox/modulating shutoff valve/isolator assembly is a pneumatically powered drive assembly. This assembly supplies output shaft power to drive the hydraulic pump part of the air driven pump assembly. Pneumatic power is supplied to the TGA/MSOV/Isolator Assembly through ducting that can supply bleed air from either of the main engines, or the auxiliary power unit.

(2) The turbine gearbox/modulating shutoff valve/isolator assembly has an isolator assembly to contain the noise made by the turbine gearbox/modulating shutoff valve/isolator assembly. The turbine gearbox/modulating shutoff valve/isolator assembly incorporates a primary and secondary speed control. Normal operation will occur with the primary speed control. The primary speed control uses the logic speed control unit, mounted on the aircraft to control the output speed of the turbine gearbox/modulating shutoff valve/isolator assembly. The primary speed control has a reserve power mode, which will increase the output shaft speed (Refer to Table 1 ). The modulating and shutoff valve assembly is only operated as a shutoff valve when the turbine gearbox/modulating shutoff valve/isolator assembly is in normal operation.

(3) The secondary speed control unit is a backup speed control, and will be used only after failure of the primary speed control. The speed that the secondary speed control sets is higher than the primary (Refer to Table 1). After failure of the primary control, if the turbine gearbox/modulating shutoff valve/isolator assembly speed increases, it will pass into the normal operating range of the secondary speed control. Because the modulating and shutoff valve assembly can only be opened with electrically controlled pneumatic pressure,the secondary speed control will only operate if electrical and pneumatic power are available. The modulating and shutoff valve assembly, under the control of the secondary speed control assembly (part of the turbine gearbox assembly), will adjust the amount of airflow to the turbine gearbox assembly when the primary speed control fails.

(4) A heater assembly was added to supply heat to the modulating and shutoff valve assembly and the turbine gearbox assembly. The heater assembly ensures the high altitude operation of the turbine gearbox/modulating shutoff valve/isolator assembly.

3. Lubrication

A. General

(1) Lubricants per MIL-PRF-23699 STD*, MIL-L-7808 or MIL-PRF-7808 are approved for use in all Honeywell air turbine starters. In addition, Honeywell air driven units identified with “MIL-L-23699 HTS”** or “MIL-PRF-23699 HTS” on the lubrication plate are approved for use with lubricants complying with MIL-PRF-23699 HTS. Note that as of July 2002 the latest revision of the qualified products list for MIL-PRF-23699 and MIL-PRF-7808 can be found at the following web site (http://everyspec.com) and entering QPL-23699 or QPL-7808 into the document ID field.

NOTE:
*STD = Standard (older generation MIL-L-23699 oils except for Mobil 254)

(2) Honeywell air driven units with lubrication plates that do not specifically call out HTS oils should not be serviced with HTS oils.
配备润滑标牌的霍尼韦尔空气驱动装置若未明确标注需使用HTS油,则不得使用HTS油进行维护。
(3) Use of HTS oil in a NON-HTS compatible Honeywell air turbine starter may result in oil leakage. If HTS oil is inadvertently used in a NON-HTS Honeywell air driven unit, replacing the HTS oil with a STD oil will further increase the risk of oil leakage, Mobile Jet Oil 291 is the one exception where changing to a MIL-PRF-23699 STD oil is recommended.
在非HTS兼容型霍尼韦尔空气涡轮启动装置中使用HTS油可能导致漏油。若误将HTS油用于非HTS型霍尼韦尔空气驱动装置,更换为STD油将进一步增加漏油风险,美孚Jet Oil 291是唯一例外——建议改用MIL-PRF-23699 STD油。
(4) Mixing ATS/ATM Turbine Engine Oils

(a) For Non-HTS turbine engine oils, mixing MIL-PRF-7808 and MIL-PRF-23699 should not measurably degrade the performance in most applications. Mixing these types of oils can change the viscosity which could affect cold operations when adding MIL-PRF-23699 to MIL-PRF-7808 or could affect long term wear of internal components when adding MIL-PRF-7808 to MIL-PRF-23699. For suitable environment, no other changes are likely to occur. It is recommended that the unit be drained of the old oil type and replaced with the new oil type. There should be no restrictions mixing “brands” of oil if the oils are compliant with the appropriate MIL-spec. Since additive packages may differ between brands there may be some change in performance.
非高温型涡轮发动机油中,MIL-PRF-7808与MIL-PRF-23699的混合在多数应用场景下不会显著降低性能。混合此类油品可能改变粘度:向MIL-PRF-7808中添加MIL-PRF-23699可能影响低温运行性能;向MIL-PRF-23699中添加MIL-PRF-7808可能影响内部部件长期磨损。在适宜环境下,通常不会引发其他变化。建议将设备中的旧油排空后更换为新油。若各品牌油品均符合相应军用标准,则混合使用并无限制。但因添加剂配方可能存在差异,性能表现或有微调。

Each ADP pump is part of an ADP assembly. The ADP assembly also has an air drive unit (ADU). The ADU contains these components:

A mount truss assembly attaches each ADP assembly to the airplane structure. The mount truss assembly for ADP assembly C1 is not the same as the one for ADP assembly C2.The ADP assemblies use airplane pneumatic power to operate.An inlet duct supplies air pressure to each ADU. The MSOVs let air flow to the turbine of the TGAs. The gearbox of TGAs reduces the turbine speed and operates the pump. ADU heaters are on the ADUs to prevent ice formation. The pumps connect directly to the TGAs. The airflow from the TGAs exits the airplane through two exhaust ducts and two exhaust vents directly aft of the ADP assemblies.The two TGAs have the same components. The turbine housing of ADP assembly C1 is different than the turbine housing for ADP assembly C2 to permit the exhaust ducts to be near each other.Two ADP logic speed control units (LSCU), one for each ADP assembly, control the pump operation. The LSCUs supply speed control and overspeed protection to the TGAs. The LSCUs are circuit card assemblies and are LRUs.A wiring harness for each ADP assembly connects the LSCU to the MSOV and the TGA.The ADP pumps are the same as the engine driven pumps.The ADP pump is rated at 53 gpm at 4315 rpm. A reserve mode permits the pump to supply 63 gpm at 5160 rpm. The pumps are LRUs.

Turbine Gearbox Assembly
Pneumatic power goes through the MSOV to the TGA.The turbine in the TGA turns the gearbox. The gearbox has a planetary gearset to reduce turbine speed to operate the ADP pump.A pneumatic actuator moves the variable inlet guide vanes (VIGVs) in the TGA assembly. The VIGVs open and close to control the airflow to the turbine. During primary speed control, the VIGVs control the turbine speed. A position indicator shows the VIGV position. A TGA lubrication system cools and lubricates the TGA gears, bearings, and seals. An oil filter cleans the TGA oil. The oil filter has a differential pressure indicator to show the condition of the filter. The heat exchanger on the TGA uses case drain fluid from the ADP pump to cool the TGA oil. There is an oil sight glass and filler port on the front of the TGA.

The ADP assembly gets pressurized air from the airplane pneumatic system. Air flows through the modulating shutoff valve (MSOV) to the turbine gearbox assembly (TGA). The TGA turns the ADP hydraulic pump. The LSCU supplies primary speed control and overspeed protection.
